    What We're
    Taking Action On

Adelaide Climate Action Week (ACAW) is built around five shared areas of climate action — drawn from the science, shaped by community, and rooted in South Australia's unique landscapes, industries and people.

With Australia leading COP31 negotiations in 2026, this is a rare moment ACAW is South Australia's chance to show up with something to say — and to make sure the voices that matter most are part of it. Whether you're a business, a researcher, a student, a farmer or a First Nations knowledge holder, there's a place for you here.

    Learn

    Understanding Our Changing World

Climate action starts with knowledge. ACAW's Learn theme brings together climate science, Indigenous ecological wisdom, future scenarios and digital innovation to build climate literacy across all of South Australia. From classroom to boardroom, understanding is the first step to action.

    People, Justice & Community Voice
    Care

    People, Justice & Community Voice

Climate change doesn't affect everyone equally. ACAW's Care theme centres the voices of those most impacted — Pacific Island communities, First Nations peoples, young people and low-income households — and explores how we build a just transition that leaves no one behind. This is also where we talk honestly about the emotional weight of climate change: the grief, the hope, and the community bonds that sustain us.

    Energy, Economy & Circular Futures
    Use Wisely

    Energy, Economy & Circular Futures

South Australia is already a renewable energy leader — but the transition is far from complete. The Use Wisely theme covers the full sweep of how we produce and consume: from clean energy and green hydrogen to circular business models, climate-positive agriculture, corporate governance and the finance systems that make it all possible. This is where industry, investors and policymakers come together to accelerate what's already working.

    Country, Nature & Living Systems
    Restore

    Country, Nature & Living Systems

South Australia's landscapes, waterways and oceans are under pressure — but they're also sites of extraordinary restoration. The Restore theme honours First Nations custodianship of Country and brings together scientists, farmers, conservationists and community members to explore how we heal what has been damaged. From the Murray to the Gulf, from the Flinders Ranges to Kangaroo Island, restoration is both practical and profound.

    Resilience, Adaptation & Disaster Preparedness
    Be Ready

    Resilience, Adaptation & Disaster Preparedness

Climate change is already here. Bushfires, heatwaves, floods and droughts are reshaping life in South Australia — and the communities, businesses and systems that fare best are those that prepare now. The Be Ready theme is about practical resilience: how individuals, households, councils and industries adapt to a changing climate, reduce risk and build the capacity to respond when it matters most.
